My friend, Hyunju, loves to buy discounted coupons for restaurants and cafes online.
This works out great for our days out. We meet, explore a part of Seoul and then dine at a pre-decided place. One such sunny Sunday afternoon, we met to walk around a traditional hanok village in Seoul.
Hyunju had already purchased two coupons, one for a traditional restaurant and one for Hello Kitty Cafe. Following our stroll though neatly paved streets lined with traditional houses called hanok, we had a traditional meal of banchan, side dishes served with rice and stew.
After walking off the weight we'd gained from gorging on vegetables, fish, tofu and rice, we stepped into the cotton-candy pink world of Hello Kitty.
It's not just children who frequent Hello Kitty Cafe. We saw plenty of couples sharing romantic kitty coffees and desserts.
