April has been a fun month here at Feinschule. As seems to be the usual, along with normal lessons, the month is packed with special events. Our first major event was a field trip to China Town. This was organized by Sunny-teacher and included a street tour of the area with our seven kindergarten students and a lunch of
jajangmyeon. Jajangmyeon is Korean-invented, Chinese dish consisting of a black bean sauce spread over noodles. It is delicious, but messy to eat.
A week or so after our field trip, we celebrated something like a Korean version of Arbor Day by planting tomato plants with our kindergarten students. I allowed the students to water their own plants, which was probably a mistake. The plant will probably die from drowning before the month is finished. Perhaps, I can spin this into some sort of classroom lesson?

Shortly after Arbor Day, we celebrated Easter. In art class, we made Easter baskets from recycled plastic bottles and scraps of art supplies. On the day of our Easter party, we took the students to a nearby park for an Easter egg hunt. To keep the older children from finding and hording all of the eggs, we labeled each egg with a sticker. Then each student was given a sticker that matched a set of Easter eggs. They could only find eggs that matched their stickers.
